One of the smaller agaves, the Blue Glow Agave reaches a maximum of about 2 feet tall by 3 feet wide. This beautiful, non-pupping agave is the result of a cross between A. attenuata and A. ocahui, resulting in an agave with blue-green leaves tipped with elegant, yellow to red spines. This agave is best viewed through afternoon light, so plant it accordingly in full sun or filtered shade. No additional water is necessary once established, and no pruning is required. Agave Blue Glow, like its agave relatives, goes out with a bang-- sending up a 10 foot tall flower stalk that signals the end of the plant's life. As a relatively new agave clone, the hardiness of this agave is not well known. However, we have observed no damage to a specimen planted in our garden in temperatures as low as 20° F.
