One of the most well known aloes, Aloe Vera has been used for centuries as an agricultural and medicinal product. A presumed native of the Arabian peninsula, it is a low maintenance, clumping species that gradually forms clusters of rosettes reaching up to 6'. In areas with harsh summer sun, it does best in part to full shade. Though usually bright green, its leaves will turn a burgundy color when water stressed. In spring to early summer, it sends out stalks of yellow or orange flowers that are enjoyed by hummingbirds.
