Asparagus Fern is an easy choice for adding texture and color to containers, beds or rock gardens. This evergreen perennial consists of long, trailing stems covered in small, needle-like leaves that clump into a bushy, fern-like plant. Small, indescript flowers appear in mid-summer, followed by green berries that ripen to a deep red by fall. Requires regular water from spring through fall. Pinch stems to promote dense foliage, or cut back to the ground in winter to restore natural shape. Looks great in mass plantings or trailing out of containers or hanging baskets.
