This is a selection of the cold tolerant, drought resistant, heat loving shrubs known as Texas Rangers that are wildly popular in Southwest landscapes. 'Compacta' has been in use for longer than most of the other cultivars on the market, for good reason: it is known for its small, silvery leaves and its ability to withstand extreme heat and drought better than other Texas Rangers. Clusters of cup-shaped lavender-pink flowers adorn the silver leaves sporadically throughout spring and summer, but the high humidity of summer rains triggers a spectacular floral display that Texas Rangers are known for. Compact Texas Ranger is slightly smaller than the 'Green Cloud' cultivar, and with little to no pruning, it maintains a symmetrical mound of dense, silvery foliage that remains on the shrub throughout winter.
