Named for the small, curved thorns along its branches, the Catclaw Acacia is a native of the Desert Southwest. Its natural habit is a large, spindly-branching shrub that can hook you and hang on, so avoid planting it near walkways! With some training and pruning, the Catclaw Acacia can become an attractive multi-trunked tree with a flush of fragrant cream colored flower rods in spring. Irrigation is recommended for faster growth, but otherwise this plant needs no irrigation once established.
