Whale's Tongue Agave was named for its broad, toothed leaves that curl a bit at the end. This beautiful, powder blue rosette is a solitary species, meaning it won't send out pupping offshoots. Native to northeastern Mexico, this agave was discovered by Tucson's Greg Starr. It will remain medium sized with no supplemental water, but regular irrigation will encourage this fast growing agave to reach up to 4 feet wide and 3 feet tall. Because of its native origins in the mountains, this agave is very hardy-- down to 0-5° F.
