This agave was named for its unique, octopus-like growth habit, with long, bright green leaves that grow up before curling back toward earth. This unarmed agave lacks the serrated teeth of other agave species, making it perfect for planting near walkways. Be warned, however, that this agave has delicate leaves that are susceptible to breaking if bumped into. At the end of its life, the Octopus Agave sends up a tall flower stalk with yellow green flowers that develop into thousands of small bulbils, or plantlets that can be picked and replanted.
