Quail Bush is a common sight in its native Sonoran Desert where it thrives in the most inhospitable conditions. Tolerating intense heat, freezing temperatures, and extreme drought, this deciduous perennial can take it all. Known for being one of the only plants that can tolerate excessive salt, alkalinity, and poorly drained soils, giving it its other common name, Big Saltbush. Dense branches of gray-blue foliage are covered in small, golden seeds on female plants in spring, offering a valuable food source to native wildlife. Plants are irregular in size and shape, but can reach up to 10 ft tall and 12 ft wide at maturity.
