This unique perennial will brighten your summer morning with bright yellow, maroon centered flowers that give off the unmistakable scent of their namesake, chocolate. This native of southeastern Arizona, northern Mexico and Texas is a favorite of butterflies and other pollinators. It will tolerate temperatures as low as -30°F, often freezing to the ground and coming back bigger and fuller next season. Allow spent flowers to ripen, and this tenacious beauty will reseed with offspring that sprout the following spring.
