Red Bird of Paradise is popular in the Southwest where it graces many outdoor spaces with its lush, tropical-looking foliage and bold summer color. This large accent lends its soft texture to hard landscapes while asking for very little in return. It thrives in drought, loves the sun, and soaks up harsh reflected heat. Red Bird of Paradise often goes dormant in cold winter climates, but spring growth quickly replaces any frozen stems to establish a beautiful rounded form by summer. Butterflies and hummingbirds can’t resist the multitudes of showy red and orange flowers that bloom constantly from late spring through fall.
