In many gardens across the Southwest, this herbaceous shrub is “Hummingbird Central” from spring until first frost. During this long, exuberant blooming season, Mexican Honeysuckle is abuzz with visits from hummingbirds and occasional butterflies. This activity is focused around clusters of tubular, neon-orange flowers that stand out against its large, velvety green leaves. Its form is naturally compact and rounded, whether grown in sun or shade. Try a single potted specimen to highlight its lush tropical texture, or group several together in the landscape to amplify the color and liveliness of their extended blooming season.
